Ken Lipshez, formerly of The New Britain Herald and now with The Valley Press (Farmington Valley) and West Hartford Press, reports in his blog that New Britain Hurricane Football coach Paul Morrell has resigned following a (1-9) season. The Golden Hurricanes season concluded on Thanksgiving Eve with a 42-20 loss to Berlin that saw the Redcoats take a knee on offense once they raced out to a 42-0 lead.
Morell is one of the more decent human beings I have come in contact with while covering Connecticut high school football the last 10 years. It’s logical to think the persistent, nasty message board posts at the New Britain Herald website were a contributing factor to his decision to resign.
